At DCCI, our primary objective is to provide D.C., Maryland, and Virginia families, and the courts, with solutions-based alternatives to the judicial system that focus on improving mental health and relationships for children, parents and caregivers.

We are committed to providing vital services – therapy, parenting coordination, parenting coaching services, support groups  and reunification therapy – with convenient remote and in-person therapy sessions in the D.C. area. We make compassionate care accessible to all families seeking support. Here’s how we do it: 

Sliding Scale Services

We aim to make therapy accessible for all families, decreasing the cost without affecting the services we offer. A sliding scale creates a flexible payment model designed to lower the financial hurdles to support. Individuals or families pay the fee per session which is adjusted based on self-reported income. This helps to ensure that monetary costs don’t stand in the way of accessing essential mental health services.

Do We Take Insurance?

Here at DCCI, therapy services except reunification therapy may be covered by insurance.  Please note, Parent Coaching and Parent Coordination services are not covered by insurance. For Therapy, we are in-network with Carefirst/BCBS plans. 

For other insurance plans, if you are out-of-network, we can provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider. Please reach out to your insurance to see if they will cover some of the cost of treatment. We are  happy to provide you with what you need to get reimbursed.

Why are some therapy services not accepted by insurance?

Even though we are in-network with insurance for therapy, we are unable to use insurance for reunification therapy.  Reunification, or family, therapy focuses on the relationship and does not treat one person’s mental health diagnosis, which is what insurance requires for coverage.  

Keeping this family work private and separate from insurance allows us to focus fully on your family’s goals, without the limitations or requirements set by insurance plans.
